New Jersey’s heat wave is expected to continue through the weekend, with temperatures reaching the 90s, heat index near 100, and thunderstorms bringing heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds.

New Jersey Faces Another Round of Dangerous Summer Heat

New Jersey residents are bracing for another stretch of intense summer weather as a stubborn heat wave continues to grip the state. After several days of uncomfortable temperatures, the Garden State will remain trapped under hot and humid conditions through the weekend and into early next week.

Forecasters say Friday will bring some of the toughest conditions of the week, with temperatures expected to climb into the lower 90s. Due to high humidity levels, the heat index, the temperature it actually feels like outside could approach 100 degrees in many parts of New Jersey.

While the temperatures are not expected to break historic records, officials warn that prolonged heat combined with humidity can still create dangerous situations, especially for people who spend long periods outdoors.

Thunderstorms Could Bring Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Friday

The heat will not be the only weather challenge facing New Jersey on Friday. Forecasters are also tracking the possibility of scattered strong thunderstorms developing later in the afternoon.

The most likely storm window is expected from around late afternoon through Friday night. As warm, moist air continues to build, thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and strong wind gusts across parts of the state.

Some areas may experience sudden bursts of heavy rain that could create difficult driving conditions and temporary disruptions. Residents are advised to stay aware of changing weather conditions and seek shelter when storms approach.

Heat Advisory Remains in Effect Across NJ

A Heat Advisory remains active for much of New Jersey as officials continue warning residents about the risks of extreme heat.

Health experts recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, wearing lightweight clothing, and taking breaks in cooler locations whenever possible.

The heat can be especially dangerous for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and people with heart or lung conditions. Officials also recommend checking on family members, neighbors, and anyone who may need additional help during periods of extreme heat.

Weekend Forecast Keeps Temperatures in the 90s

The heat wave will continue into Saturday, with another day of temperatures reaching the lower 90s. Although the chance of thunderstorms will be lower compared with Friday, the day is expected to remain hot, humid, and uncomfortable.

People heading outdoors, including those planning trips to the Jersey Shore, should prepare for high temperatures and strong humidity. Even near the coast, where sea breezes may provide some relief, conditions will remain warmer than normal.

Sunday may bring a slight improvement as humidity levels begin to decrease. However, temperatures will still remain high, with forecasts showing highs between 90 and 95 degrees across much of the state.

Cooler Weather Could Finally Arrive Next Week

After several days of intense heat, New Jersey may finally get some relief by the middle of next week.

Forecasters expect cooler and drier air to move into the region around Wednesday or Thursday, bringing temperatures down into the 80s and making outdoor conditions more comfortable.

Until that change arrives, residents are urged to stay hydrated, monitor weather alerts, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

For now, New Jersey’s summer heat is far from over. With scorching temperatures followed by possible thunderstorms, the next few days will be a reminder that even ordinary summer weather can quickly become dangerous when heat and storms collide.
