A Warm, Mostly Comfortable Day at the Jersey Shore

Ocean temperatures will vary quite a bit depending on where you are, ranging from around 70 to 84 degrees. So, while the air may feel warm, the water could be noticeably cooler at some beaches.
Low Rip-Current Risk Is Good News for Swimmers
The low rip-current risk is one of the better parts of Thursday’s forecast.
Of course, low risk does not mean there is no danger in the water. Swimmers should still stay near lifeguards, follow beach rules and pay attention if conditions suddenly change.
With waves only around 1 to 2 feet, the ocean should remain relatively calm for most of the day. Still, anyone planning to spend several hours at the beach should keep an eye on the latest conditions.
Gusty Winds Could Make Things Feel Cooler
The wind may be noticeable along the coast.
Winds are expected from the west at around 9 to 13 mph, with gusts possibly reaching 21 mph. That could make some parts of the beach feel cooler or breezier than the temperature suggests.
The marine forecast calls for winds around 5 to 10 knots and seas near 2 feet. Overall, those conditions remain manageable, but stronger gusts could make umbrellas, chairs and other lightweight beach items harder to keep in place.
Morning Showers Could Interrupt Plans

At Long Branch, high tide should arrive around 8:30 a.m., with low tide around 2:30 p.m. and another high tide around 8:45 p.m.
At Manasquan Inlet, high tide is expected around 8:44 a.m., followed by low tide around 2:42 p.m. Another high tide should arrive around 8:59 p.m.
Further south, Seaside Heights is expected to see high tide around 8:26 a.m., low tide around 2:34 p.m. and another high tide near 8:41 p.m.
These differences can matter if you’re planning to fish, swim, boat or spend time around tidal areas.
Friday Could Be Even Calmer
Friday’s marine conditions look fairly comfortable as well.
Winds are expected from the north at 5 to 10 knots before shifting toward the southeast during the afternoon. Seas should be around 2 feet in the morning, eventually dropping to 1 foot or less.
That could make Friday a particularly comfortable day for people looking for calmer water.
Conditions may shift again Friday night, when winds turn southwest before becoming northerly after midnight. Seas should remain around 2 feet.
Weekend Weather Starts Well, Then Changes
Saturday looks fairly pleasant, with northeast winds around 5 to 10 knots and seas between 2 and 3 feet. Saturday night should remain relatively manageable, with seas around 2 feet.
The forecast becomes more unsettled on Sunday.
Winds could increase to 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon, while seas may rise to 2 to 4 feet. There is also a chance of showers later in the day.
Sunday night could bring a bigger change, with southwest winds remaining around 15 to 20 knots, seas reaching 3 to 4 feet and showers becoming more likely.
Monday could continue that unsettled pattern, with another chance of morning showers. Winds and seas may also become higher around thunderstorms.
Thursday Still Looks Like a Decent Beach Day
Overall, Thursday appears to be a fairly favorable day at the Jersey Shore. Low rip-current risk, relatively small waves and temperatures in the 80s should make conditions appealing for beachgoers.
