Hollywood veteran Goldie Hawn has opened up about the enduring strength of her 43-year relationship with longtime partner Kurt Russell, attributing its success to mutual freedom, shared family values, and acceptance of differences.
In a recent interview ahead of the release of her children’s book “The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose,” Hawn reflected on her life philosophy and evolving relationship with Russell, whom she began dating in 1983.
Hawn emphasized that maintaining a sense of “freedom” has been central to their bond. She described it as a feeling of liberation rather than restriction, allowing both partners to remain authentic while growing together.
“We don’t always agree on everything, and that’s okay,” she said, highlighting how their differences have not weakened but rather strengthened their connection over time.
The couple’s shared commitment to family has also played a defining role. Hawn noted that despite differing views—including political opinions—their focus on family unity has been the “greatest glue” holding them together.
Hawn shares children Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson with her former husband, while Russell has a son from a previous marriage. Together, they have a son, Wyatt Russell, forming a blended family that Hawn says remains at the center of their lives.
Speaking previously, Hudson described her mother and Russell as the “center” of their family, praising the dynamic and lively environment they have created.
Now at 80, Hawn said her life mission remains rooted in happiness and personal growth, adding that each stage of life brings new opportunities. She described her latest venture into children’s literature as part of embracing a new chapter.
Reflecting on her journey, Hawn said she believes life should evolve in phases rather than remain static, underscoring her continued desire to explore, learn, and grow.
