Two people were killed in an early morning shooting near Columbia Park in Jersey City, as investigators marked multiple bullet casings and searched for suspects.

WEBDESK – NJNEWSLINE: Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that left two people dead early Monday morning near Columbia Park in Jersey City, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The shooting occurred on Old Bergen Road near the park, officials said in a statement posted on X. Investigators remained at the scene for hours as police taped off part of the neighborhood and searched for evidence.

Bullet markings were visible on the sidewalk, while at least 14 evidence markers were placed around the crime scene, according to local reports from the area.

A section of Winfield Avenue was temporarily closed as detectives processed the scene, though the roadway later reopened to traffic.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, and no information about possible suspects or a motive has been disclosed.

The double homicide has shocked residents in the surrounding neighborhood, with many waking up to heavy police presence near the park Monday morning.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation remains active and urged anyone with information related to the shooting to contact law enforcement.
