Seattle Food Festival Shooting Leaves Community in Shock

A summer celebration in Seattle turned tragic after gunfire broke out during the popular Bite of Seattle food festival, leaving three people dead and four others injured, including a toddler.

The shooting happened on Sunday evening at Seattle Center near the iconic Space Needle, forcing hundreds of festivalgoers to flee as panic spread through the crowded venue. Authorities confirmed that one suspect is in custody, while police continue searching for a second individual believed to be connected to the incident.

    Chaos Strikes During Popular Festival

According to Seattle Police, officers already stationed at the festival responded immediately after multiple gunshots were reported at around 6 p.m.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third later died at a nearby hospital. Four additional victims remain hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition.

    Investigators Focus on Two Suspects

Police believe the shooting began after a confrontation between two individuals who allegedly exchanged gunfire inside the festival grounds.

Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis said investigators recovered two firearms from the scene. Officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public, but confirmed the search continues for the second suspect.

    Families Ran for Safety

Witnesses described terrifying moments as people scattered in every direction after hearing repeated gunshots.

Videos shared on social media showed visitors abandoning food, chairs and personal belongings while trying to escape. Families attending the event with children were among those caught in the chaos, adding to the emotional impact of the incident.

    Investigation Moves Forward

Seattle Police homicide detectives, crime scene investigators and gun violence specialists have launched a full investigation into the attack.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine exactly how the incident unfolded and what triggered the deadly exchange of gunfire.

    Officials Condemn the Violence

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the shooting as a heartbreaking act of violence that disrupted what should have been a safe community event.

Local and state leaders extended condolences to the victims’ families while renewing calls for stronger efforts to reduce gun violence at public gatherings across the United States.

Public Safety Back in the Spotlight

The Bite of Seattle is one of the city’s largest annual festivals, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer.

Following the shooting, questions are once again being raised about security arrangements at major public events, including police deployment, screening procedures and emergency response planning.

    Search Continues

Police continue urging anyone who attended the festival and may have photos, videos or other information to come forward.

Investigators say more updates will be released as the case develops. For now, authorities remain focused on locating the second suspect while supporting the victims and their families after one of Seattle’s deadliest festival shootings in recent years.
