Warm weather greets Jersey Shore visitors before thunderstorms threaten later today, prompting officials to urge swimmers, boaters and beachgoers to monitor changing coastal conditions closely.

Sunny Start Before Storms Move In

Visitors planning a trip to the Jersey Shore can expect a pleasant start to Friday, with comfortable beach weather during the morning hours.

Forecasters say conditions are likely to change later in the day, as scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across parts of the coastline.

    Morning Brings Safer Beach Conditions

The early part of the day is expected to offer favorable conditions for swimming, walking along the beach and other outdoor activities.

Ocean waves are forecast to stay between 2 and 3 feet, while winds should remain light before becoming slightly stronger in the afternoon.

    Low Rip Current Risk Continues

Beach safety officials say the risk of rip currents remains low, making ocean conditions safer than on days with rough surf.

Even so, visitors are encouraged to swim only at beaches protected by lifeguards and to follow all posted warning flags and safety instructions.

Afternoon Storms Could Disrupt Outdoor Plans

Weather experts caution that the calm conditions may not last throughout the day.

As temperatures rise, scattered thunderstorms could develop, bringing brief heavy rain, lightning and occasional strong wind gusts to coastal communities.

    Warm and Humid Weather Persists

Despite the chance of afternoon storms, temperatures are expected to remain warm across the Jersey Shore.

Humidity levels will also stay high, creating classic summer weather. Visitors should drink plenty of water, wear light clothing and apply sunscreen while spending time outdoors.

    Boaters Advised to Monitor Conditions

Recreational boaters are also being urged to remain alert as weather conditions may change quickly later in the day.

Marine forecasters recommend checking updated weather bulletins before heading onto the water, since thunderstorms can create hazardous boating conditions with little warning.

Checking Tide Times Can Improve Safety

Officials remind visitors that tide schedules should be part of every beach trip, especially for those planning activities such as fishing, paddleboarding or kayaking.

Knowing when high and low tides occur can help reduce risks and make coastal activities more enjoyable.

    Lightning Safety Remains Essential

Emergency officials continue reminding the public that lightning poses a serious danger at beaches.

Anyone who hears thunder should leave the water immediately and move to a safe indoor location until the storm has completely passed.

    Weekend Forecast Remains Unsettled

Looking ahead, weather conditions are expected to remain mixed throughout the weekend.

Periods of sunshine will likely be interrupted by isolated showers or thunderstorms, although many hours should remain suitable for outdoor recreation.

Stay Updated Before Heading to the Shore

Authorities encourage beach visitors to check the latest weather forecast before leaving home.

Keeping track of changing conditions can help families, swimmers and boaters make safer decisions while enjoying the Jersey Shore during the busy summer weekend.
